Greetings HeroClix fans!

We are celebrating 15 years of HeroClix, the fantastic game that brings your favorite heroes and villains to your tabletop for fast-paced strategic excitement, by releasing a very special set of Marvel HeroClix figures. The Marvel HeroClix: 15th Anniversary What If? set has Marvel characters like you’ve never seen them before. These characters come straight from the pages of classic issues of Marvel’s What If? series that takes readers to alternate universes to see how things change if events happened differently in the Marvel Universe.

Today, we wonder What If Thor was a thrall of Seth?

With the help of the Time Twisters, Seth overpowered Odin and defeated Asgard in the same universe as Earth 9260. Several of Thor’s allies were killed in the fight while he and the rest of his fighting companions were imprisoned and toyed with by Seth until a disguised Immortus and his multi-universe allies Dr. Doom, Irondroid, and vampire Wolverine could liberate Asgard.

Coming in at 105 points with the Asgardian and Mystical keywords, this Thor means to stay close to his captors and do their bidding with long-range attacks. He has the Flight symbol and a range value of 7. He switches from a starting slot of Running Shot to Sidestep for his middle dial and finishes with Running Shot again. His mobility options overlap with his attack power options with Pulse Wave and Penetrating/Psychic Blast. Defensively, he starts with a click of Invincible followed by Invulnerability to reduce damage and finishes with three clicks of Energy Shield/Deflection to keep himself from being sniped too easily.

Though he lacks the use of Willpower, this Thor can become a regular cannon that can shoot every turn with his special power on damage Under Seth’s Thrall. If players give an adjacent friendly character with the Mystical keyword and a point value of 50 or more a double power action that deals no pushing damage, Thor can make a free close or ranged attack. If players keep characters that meet the point value and keyword requirements close and pile around some lower point figures with Enhancement or Empower or ones that give attack bonuses like the Hydra and SHIELD agents, then Thor can deal massive amounts of damage every turn without pushing!

Thanks for reading! Join us again as we reveal more exciting alternate reality characters and highlight strategies and team builds from the Marvel HeroClix: 15th Anniversary What If? set and visit the WizKids Info Network to find upcoming Release Day and Colossal OP events near you!

Until next time, we bid thee Odin’s favor!

Greetings HeroClix Fans,

Welcome to another exciting preview from the upcoming Marvel HeroClix: 15th Anniversary – What If? set! Today, we’re taking a look into two versions of The Man Without Fear, Daredevil!

The first version of Daredevil we’re looking at is a 50-point piece, with five clicks of life, and a range of five squares with one target. Daredevil carries only one special power, appearing on his first two clicks of damage, called Aide to Vice President Foggy. This power states that Daredevil can use Outwit. And, when he does, after actions resolve, he can use Perplex but only to target the same character. He also possesses the standard powers Charge, Leap/Climb, Precision Strike, Super Senses, Combat Reflexes, and Perplex.

Our second version of Daredevil is a bit different, called Daredevil, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. This version is a 60-point piece, with six clicks of life, and a range of six squares with one target. He also carries Improved Movement: Ignores Hindering Terrain, making Daredevil, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. a great choice to use on maps with a lot of stealth opportunities. He fits in naturally on both S.H.I.E.L.D. and Spy themed teams, and can make use of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team ability.

Daredevil, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. carries one trait, called Level 10 S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent. This power states that Daredevil, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and friendly characters within 3 squares are considered adjacent to each other for the purposes of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team ability. That team ability, as a reminder, allows adjacent friendly characters to modify their range values by +1. Additionally, you can give characters with this TA a power action and choose an adjacent friendly character, with the chosen character modifying its damage value by +1 while adjacent to this character, and making ranged combat attacks this turn.

For powers, Daredevil, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. has a special power on the first three clicks of movement called Training and Tech, which allows him to use Running Shot, Sidestep, and Stealth. For standard powers, he bring Plasticity, Super Senses, Combat Reflexes, and Perplex to the table – he’s a well rounded swarm leader for a S.H.I.E.L.D. team and can really tilt the table in your favor.

That’s it for today, ‘Clix fans! Be sure to check back next time for more exciting previews from our upcoming sets! Greetings HeroClix Fans,

Welcome back to another exciting preview from the upcoming Marvel HeroClix: 15th Anniversary – What If? set! Today, we’re looking at a piece stacked with options and abilities – the Goblin King!

Hailing from the What If? story where the Green Goblin stole the Infinity Gauntlet, the Goblin King can be played at a 275-point value with 10 clicks of life, a 175-point value with 8 clicks of life, or a 75-point value with 4 clicks of life. Each carries a range of 7 squares with 1 target, and each can make use of the Power Cosmic team ability, while they are able to be played on Dark Avengers, Monster, and Ruler themed teams.

The Goblin King carries two traits. The first of which, called Force You to Relive Your Worst Nightmare, states that when an opposing character misses Goblin King with an attack, after actions resolve give that character a Nightmare token. Characters with a Nightmare token modify their attack values by -1. Additionally, when a character with a Nightmare token makes an attack, after actions resolve remove one Nightmare token from that character. His second trait is called Infinity Gauntlet. This trait allows the Goblin King to be given a free action, letting him choose two standard powers. Goblin King can use the chosen powers until he chooses again.

As far as standard powers go, Goblin King has a mix that makes him both hard to hit and hard to nail down. He carries Phasing/Teleport, Sidestep, Invincible, Impervious, Invulnerability, Toughness, Probability Control, and Perplex. Utilizing the Infinity Gauntlet trait, you can easily mix in lethal combinations like Shape Change and Super Senses, or Flurry and Blades/Claws/Fangs. The mixtures from his trait, along with the already significant standard power selections makes this incredibly formidable character even more difficult to deal with.

That’s it for today, HeroClix fans! We hope your appetite is whetted with the possibilities Goblin King presents – he’s truly a powerhouse, and is a lot of fun to play. Be sure to check back soon for more exciting previews and visit the WizKids Info Network to find upcoming Release Day Organized Play Events! Until then, Don’t be afraid to push!

MessageSujet: Re: [News] Marvel What If...   Mar 30 Mai - 18:43

Greetings, HeroClix Fans!

Marvel HeroClix: 15th Anniversary – What If? features familiar characters with a twist – they are from alternate realities where minor changes resulted in major consequences. Instead of featuring a character from one of those alternate realities in today’s preview, we are highlighting a cosmic being of great power who can alter reality himself – an agent of Chaos and Order, the In-Betweener!

With the In-Betweener on the map, you can expect plenty of game manipulation and representations of his dual nature. Attacking In-Betweener comes at a cost since he possesses the Mystics team ability, which deals 1 unavoidable damage to the attacker when In-Betweener takes damage from an attack. In addition to Mystics, an even bigger feedback is triggered when In-Betweener is KO’d by an opposing character’s attack thanks to his trait, In the End, All Must Balance Out. This trait forces your opponent to make a choice if they have more than one character – either KO their lowest point character or deal 3 unavoidable damage to their highest point character.

In-Betweener has a very balanced dial, which features two distinct sections within his 8 clicks of life. He starts with Stealth, which lets him more safely work behind the scenes to manipulate the dice via Probability Control with his Range of 8. The powers he can use will vary from game to game due to his special Attack power, Equal and Opposite Attack. This power is a free action that allows you to choose an opposing character within range and line of fire; In-Betweener can then use the standard attack and damage powers the chosen character can use until your next turn. Finishing off the first half of his dial, In-Betweener has Impervious in his Defense slot.

The second half of the dial sees In-Betweener change from manipulating rolls to warping combat values with his reality altering abilities as he trades Probability Control for Perplex. His Speed power for the last four clicks is Nexus of Realities, which lets In-Betweener use Phasing/Teleport and then make a close or ranged attack if he moved half his speed value or less as he travels through realities. His Attack and Defense powers on these clicks are formidable as he throws his cosmic weight around with Penetrating/Psychic Blast and Invulnerability.

At an appropriately dual-natured cost of 222 while possessing the Power Cosmic team ability and high combat values, In-Betweener is a strong piece to build around for any team. Alternatively, you can stick to a theme using his keywords: Elders of the Universe, Cosmic, and Mystical.

Join in on the 15th Anniversary celebration by attending a Marvel HeroClix: What If? Release Day Organized Play Event at your FLGS! Find events near you on the WizKids Info Network.

Greetings HeroClix fans!

Continuing our celebration of 15 years of HeroClix we have another Marvel HeroClix: 15th Anniversary – What If? character to preview straight from a classic issue of Marvel’s What If?

Today we wonder What If Hulk was possessed by the Venom alien symbiote?

Spider-Man obtained the alien symbiote costume that enhanced his spider-like abilities during the first Secret War on the Battleworld planet. In the issue of What If? that is the inspiration for this figure, Spider-Man waited too long to seek help from Reed Richards in removing the symbiote and it took control of him, feeding off of his life energy and aging him at an accelerated rate. After Spider-Man died of such an advanced biological age, the suit bonded with Hulk and began drawing the gamma radiation from Bruce Banner instead of aging him. The symbiote eventually found a new host in Thor after defeating him in combat but left Banner ‘cured’ of being the Hulk.

This figure, one of the four chase figures in the Marvel HeroClix: 15th Anniversary – What If? set, brings the best of a ‘Hulk’ dial and a ‘Venom’ dial into one dangerously ‘hangry’ package. With the simple Brute and Monster keywords, Venom Hulk can be fielded at two point values. At 190 points Venom Hulk picks his own appetizers with a high movement value Leap/Climb, Super Strength, Impervious, and the special damage power Engulfing Tendrils that lets him use Poison and gives him a range value of 4 and can place the hit target of his ranged attack adjacent to himself after actions resolve. Use that to make the most of his Indomitable ability that grants him Willpower and Alien Symbiote trait that grants him Plasticity, Shape Change, and the ability to automatically break away for movement. Rope them in closer and hold them there with Plasticity to make his toxic gamma breath lay on the Poison damage. After Venom Hulk takes a decent hit, he gains Charge, Battle Fury, and Symbiotic Bonding on defense that lets him use Super Senses, Toughness, and Regeneration to keep him from tapping out before the main course.

If you only pay 100 points for Venom Hulk he starts on his blue line on Click #6 with Flurry, Super Strength, Invincible, Battle Fury, and his best attack and damage combat values; 12 attack and 5 damage. With Flurry and potential extra damage from an object held with Super Strength, Venom Hulk could deal out a total of 12 damage in one round if the dice decide to work with you! On his last four clicks Venom Hulk has a special power on attack called Leave Me Alone! that lets him use Quake and Super Strength but when he Quakes he may use his printed damage value instead of the normal 2 damage that goes with Quake. He finishes up this dial with Symbiote Bonding again to make sure he can stick around for dessert.

Marvel HeroClix: 15th Anniversary – What If? is on the horizon, and today we are continuing our preview series with a look at an alternate version of a familiar face.

Today, we are imagining What If Iron Man Sold Out?

In this alternate reality, Tony Stark went public after he created the Iron Man armor and patented the technology, ushering in a new age in armor-based weaponry. The world changes for the worse as the Stark tech is used for terrible evils, including the introduction of powerful new Sentinels targeting mutantkind. This “Peace Machine” armor is worn by James Rhodes during the events that accompany Tony Stark’s return from seclusion to see that things are made right.

Peace Machine is used primarily for non-lethal action, and the armor has ways to directly and indirectly affect battles on the map. This figure possesses two traits. The first is Fine-Tuned Repulsors, which is a special use of Force Blast that may be used to target opposing characters within 3 squares and line of fire. The other trait, Suppression Field, causes all characters to only take 3 damage when they would normally take 4 or more.

With a budget cost of 50 points, Peace Machine’s dial is short and sweet while still having abilities we would expect to see on an armored hero like Indomitable and those granted by the wing symbol. Peace Machine begins with Sidestep in his Speed slot and armored Toughness on Defense. While using repulsor technology as pseudo-Telekinesis can be useful for positioning other figures, it is also Peace Machine’s best chance of dealing damage via using a range attack to do object damage. That damage can be sure to go through if paired with Outwit to prevent an opposing character from using a damage reducing power.

The second half of this 4-click dial brings more tech tricks with Plasticity and some range defense from Energy Shield/Deflection. These last two clicks also feature Support as Rhodey does his part to help fix this alternate reality that is terrorized by advanced technology.

Thanks for reading and be sure to check back as we continue revealing the figures in the Marvel HeroClix: 15th Anniversary – What If? set. MessageSujet: Re: [News] Marvel What If...   Lun 5 Juin - 21:47

Greetings, HeroClix fans,

Welcome to another exciting preview for the upcoming Marvel HeroClix 15th Anniversary: What If? set! Today, we’re looking at a figure that you can win at your Friendly Local Game Store by participating in a Release Day Organized Play Event. We are excited to introduce a version of Steve Rogers who was able to wield Mighty Mjölnir – The Captain!

As a 110-point piece, The Captain features high attack values, high damage output, and a dynamic 7-click dial. In addition to being Indomitable, he comes with a range of six squares, which allows you to push him and press the attack. The Captain is a true powerhouse, and he only gets better as we start to dive deep on his diverse dial.

To start, The Captain sports two traits. The first is called From An Alternate Earth. This trait states that if this character is on your sideline, you may give a free action to a friendly character named Captain America or Thor that’s of equal or higher value. You can replace that character with this character on the same click number – he’s a versatile multi-tool to bring in as a situational attacker, or eschewing that, he can be your primary up front threat. His second trait is called There’s Plenty One Man Can Do…If He’s The Right Man! This trait states that before The Captain is given a non-free action, you may knock back any number of adjacent opposing characters 2 squares. Think of the havoc you could cause on multi-level maps or near the edge of a map – extra damage is always a good thing!

The Captain sports a single special power, called Heads Up, Avenger! I’ve Got a Special Delivery Winging its Way Towards You! Appearing on the final three clicks of his damage, this special power allows you to give The Captain a power action and choose a friendly character within range and line of fire. All opposing characters adjacent to the chosen character are knocked back 2 squares from the chosen character’s square. If the chosen character is named Thor, that character can make an attack after actions resolve! He rounds out his dial with the standard powers Charge, Sidestep, Quake, Invulnerability, Toughness, and Close Combat Expert.

The Captain is one of the most popular incarnations of Captain America, and this dial certainly does the character justice. He can be played in any number of roles – either as a primary attacker with a lower point team behind him, or in conjunction with a Thor to make use of his special power. He fits in nicely in any occasion, especially when on his Avengers or Soldier themed teams.

That’s it for today, ‘Clix fans! Be sure to check in next time for more exciting previews as we continue to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of HeroClix! Visit the WizKids Info Network to find upcoming Release Day Events near you! Until then, don’t be afraid to push!

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

Today, we’re taking a look at two figures from the Marvel HeroClix 15th Anniversary: What If? set, available in stores now. Today, we’re exploring two uniquely different versions of the Punisher that you can pull during your Release Day OP Events!

Up first is the Punisher from the What If? storyline where, instead of merely being the antithesis of Spider-Man in his first appearance, he instead killed Spidey! This figure is a 60-point piece, with five clicks of life, and a range of six squares with one target. Punisher can be played on both Assassin and Soldier themed teams.

First and foremost, Punisher carries a trait called Set the Trap. This trait allows you to give Punisher a power action to place a Decoy bystander adjacent to an opposing character within range and line of fire, removing any existing Decoys from the game. When a Decoy is KO’d by an opponent’s attack, deal 3 penetrating damage to each character adjacent to the square it occupied, unless the attack total was 2 or greater than Decoy’s defense value.

The Decoy itself a 1 click bystander, that cannot move. That said, it does carry a special power called Rigged to Blow, which states that if Decoy was not placed on the map this turn, it can use Pulse Wave. When Decoy uses Pulse Wave and actions resolve, KO it. It also carries Plasticity and Shape Change, making it a great tie up piece to really cause trouble for your opponent.

Back to Punisher, outside of that trait he carries quite a few standard powers, including Stealth, Running Shot, Flurry, Precision Strike, Blades/Claws/Fangs, Willpower, Toughness, Combat Reflexes, and Ranged Combat Expert. He’s a fighting machine for every situation at a very low point investment, and a great character to add to your team.

Our second version of Frank Castle is the Punisher of the Strange! Punisher of the Strange is a 100-point piece, carrying seven clicks of life, with a range of six squares with one target. He possesses two traits. The first, called From an Alternate Earth states that if this character is on your sideline, you may give a free action to a friendly character named Dr. Strange or Punisher that’s equal or more points. Replace that character with this character on the same click number.

His second trait is called To End the X-Vampires. This states that characters with the Monster keyword and adjacent opposing characters can’t be healed. With those two traits, Punisher of the Strange has a plethora of standard powers, including Running Shot, Stealth, Charge, Penetrating/Psychic Blast, Pulse Wave, Blades/Claws/Fangs, Toughness, Energy Shield/Deflection, Combat Reflexes, Probability Control, and Exploit Weakness. He’s a dangerous attacker and has so many powers that either ignore or break through defensive powers, along with being able to reroll attacks that he’s a significant threat to any opposing team – all for only 100 points!

That’s it for today, ‘Clix fans! Visit your FLGS to pick up the new set and participate in a Release Day OP Event. We’ll be back soon with more exciting previews from our upcoming sets. Until then, may all our Blades rolls be sixes!

Greetings HeroClix fans!

We hope you all enjoyed the previews and unboxing videos for the Marvel HeroClix: 15th Anniversary – What If? set celebrating 15 years of HeroClix. Today, we look at a team building and strategy feature focused on the fan favorite Runaways roster from the new set.

This entire 6-figure roster of the Runaways is from an issue of What If? that explored What If the Runaways Became The Young Avengers. Since they all share the Runaways and Young Avengers keywords, they will mix very well even with characters outside of the Marvel HeroClix: What If? set including Young Avengers such as Vision, Wiccan, Hulkling, Patriot, and Stature from last summer’s Civil War event, the Loki convention exclusive, and the Kate Bishop and Miss America tournament kit prize figures.

We can build a 300-point team with five of the six figures as follows:

50 Molly Hayes
50 Chase Stein
50 Gertrude Yorkes & Old Lace
75 Karolina Dean
75 Nico Minoru
300 Total

Playing together as a team, they all have the Runaways trait that lets them reroll a ‘1’ result on an attack roll once per turn if they are adjacent to a friendly character with the Runaways or Young Avengers keywords. This shared trait should greatly improve their attack effectiveness and should prevent them from hurting themselves with a Critical Miss roll. They also all have the Avengers team ability which allows them to take move actions that do not count against your action total. This allows you to get them into position early on with little difficulty. Any HeroClix force that relies heavily on teamwork needs to have certain roles filled, and the Runaways have their bases covered with everyone playing double duty.

Molly Hayes is the dedicated close combat beater mixed with strong damage reduction defenses. Her Knock Knock special power lets her use Close Combat Expert as a close combat action that can be used with Charge for a little bit of board control to knock opponents around the map.

Chase Stein fills the roles of tie-up, board control, and support. With his special attack power Fistigons, he can use Quake and give an action token to any one character he hits with it. Using Sidestep to keep one of his Quake targets tied-up, he will be hard to retaliate against with Combat Reflexes and Perplex making him even harder to hit. If he does get scratched, his Neuro-Kinetic Armor special gives him toughness and some healing when he clears action tokens.

Filling the role of team leaders, secondary close combat harassment, and the source of support powers are Gertrude Yorkes & Old Lace. They are truly a two-for-one bargain at 50 points. With the trait My Parents Only Left Me One Thing, you place an Old Lace token in your starting area at the beginning of the game. When Old Lace would normally be dealt damage, you may instead deal 1 unavoidable damage to Gertrude Yorkes & Old Lace. This means Gertrude can stay back and avoid the heat of battle with Stealth and Super Senses. The Old Lace bystander can Charge in using Blades/Claws/Fangs and help Molly and Chase with Empower. Any damage dealt to Old Lace will only slowly draw down Gertrude’s dial. With Young Avengers Assemble!, Gertrude Yorkes & Old Lace can add an action to your action total with Leadership and remove a token from a friendly character with the Runaways or Young Avengers keywords regardless of adjacency or point value. Subsequently, Gertrude gains Outwit and Willpower.

Karolina is the primary attacker with a range value of 7 combined with Running Shot and Penetrating/Psychic Blast. However, she is just as helpful defensively. With Reactive Energy Barrier, she can share her starting 18-defense value with friendly adjacent characters by using Defend which modifies an attacker’s damage value by -1 when the attacker targets her or an adjacent character with a ranged attack. She can also help Nico Minoru get some extra boom out of her ranged attacks with Enhancement. If her friends have been KO’d or have been separated from her, she can use Sidestep and Pulse Wave to eat through the opposition’s defenses.

With her trait Sister Grimm, Nico Minoru is the literal definition of double duty. She can take a free action to choose two standard powers from different combat types (speed, attack, defense, and/or damage) that were not chosen during the previous turn. With a range value of 6 and Willpower, Nico can be whatever you want her to be, whenever you need her to be it. You can choose Hypersonic and Super Strength to land a heavy hit, Mastermind to use Molly Hayes as a damage sponge, bolster her own defenses with Invincible or Impervious, increase friendly damage potential with Perplex, Enhancement, or Empower, be another source of Outwit, mystical Mind Control shenanigans, etc. You get the point; the Powers and Abilities Card is your menu.

All together, this Runaways squad can do some heavy damage leading with a solid ranged attack from Karolina Dean. You can surround the enemy with Molly, Chase, and Old Lace and play pinball with them with the knock back from Chase’s Quake and Molly’s Knock Knock. Your team remains highly adaptable to any situation with Nico Minoru.

If you find yourself building for a 400 point game, reach for Iron Lad to get some more ranged attack and taxi potential.
