Greetings HeroClix Fans!

We’re just weeks away from the April release of our Marvel HeroClix: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Movie Gravity Feed so today we turn the spotlight to the team member with a thirst for vengeance, an affinity for knives, and a difficulty grasping the concept of metaphors. Let’s all give a hand (figuratively, not literally) to Drax!

Vengeance drives Drax, thus he begins play with a trait called The Path of Vengeance, which lets him use the Colossal Stamina ability to take a non-free action when he has two action tokens – but with the penalty of being dealt 1 unavoidable damage after actions. Additionally, The Path of Vengeance boosts Drax’s combat values by +1 for each action token on him, and when he clears action tokens he may heal 1 click.

Drax’s dial features one special power in his damage slot called I Fear No Enemy, which lets him use Battle Fury if an opposing character is within line of fire. Although Battle Fury lets Drax ignore Shape Change and makes him exempt from being targeted by Incapacitate or Mind Control, it also prevents him from being carried so make sure any foes aren’t within line of fire if you need to carry him away to safety or for better positioning.

I Fear No Enemy starts on the second click of Drax’s dial, which also features the combination of Charge and Blades/Claws/Fangs. Defensively, Drax has Toughness to absorb some damage dealt to him. On his last two clicks, Drax stands his ground and drops Charge in favor of Flurry. Drax’s opening click features Sidestep and Invincible.

Drax has a point value of 75 and has the standard speed, attack, and damage symbols. He also has the Indomitable defense symbol, so don’t worry about pushing him. Drax is a close attacker whose damage potential makes him a great addition to teams built around his three keywords (Guardians of the Galaxy, Brute, and Warrior) or any force that you see fit to include him.

Greetings, HeroClix fans, and welcome to another exciting preview from the upcoming Marvel HeroClix: Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 movie set! Today we’re looking at the leader of the team, the incomparable Peter Quill – aka, Star-Lord!

…who?

Star-Lord, man! Come on!

Star-Lord is an indomitable 90-point piece that comes in with six clicks of life, as well as a range of six squares with two targets. He also carries Improved Targeting – Ignores Hindering Terrain. He can be played on Guardians of the Galaxy, Ravagers, Spartoi, and Cosmic themed teams. He’s a run-and-gun character who is also a flier, meaning that he can get around elevated and hindering terrain, ignore outdoor blocking terrain, and move through squares adjacent to or occupied by opposing characters, while still needing to break away normally.

Star-Lord begins with a trait called You Know Who We Are! This trait states that if Star-Lord is the first character to attack an opposing character on this turn, that action does not count against your action total. He also has a special power appearing on his first four clicks of attack called Element Guns, which states that Star-Lord can use both Energy Explosion and Precision Strike. Additionally, all of his attacks cause knock back.

Beyond those special abilities, Star-Lord also has a bevy of standard powers to use and choose from as he moves through his dial, including Hypersonic Speed, Running Shot, Toughness, Super Senses, Leadership, Shape Change, and Perplex. He also has two clicks of Earthbound/Neutralized at the end of his dial, so be aware and take precautions if possible!

That’s it for today, HeroClix fans! We hope you’ve enjoyed this preview from the upcoming Marvel HeroClix Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 movie set. Until next time, just give a little whistle for more previews!

Greetings HeroClix Fans,

Welcome to another exciting preview from the upcoming Marvel HeroClix: Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 Movie set! Today, we’re looking at one of Star-Lord’s oldest…friends? Yondu!

As is always the case, be aware that anything from here on in may contain spoilers for the film!

As leader of the Ravagers, Yondu is familiar with combat, and his dial is a reflection of that skillset. He is a 100-point piece, has six clicks of life, and has a remarkable range of eight squares with three targets. He also has Improved Targeting which allows him to make ranged attacks against adjacent characters. Finally, taking into account his tendency for shifting allegiances to suit his needs, Yondu can be played on Guardians of the Galaxy, Ravagers, Pilot, and Pirate themed teams.

Yondu has a good mix of standard powers with Sidestep, Force Blast, Energy Shield/Deflection, Toughness, and Perplex. However, where Yondu sets himself apart from other great ranged attackers in the game is with both his trait and his special attack power. His trait, called Yaka Arrow, states that damage dealt by Yondu’s range attacks can’t be reduced below one! Imagine carving through your opponents with that eight range and making sure that even their biggest tank is getting whittled down every round.

His special power, Whistling Arrow Attack, makes him even more formidable. The power begins by having you give Yondu a range combat action that targets a single character. Each time Yondu hits and the attack resolves, he may then make a range attack targeting a single opposing character that has not been targeted this action, counting range and drawing lines of fire as if he occupied the square of the character most recently hit. Each hit character is dealt 2 damage instead of normal damage! This power effectively grants Yondu a range of 16 squares, and coupled with his trait, means at the bare minimum, you could be doing 1 damage to two characters on completely different quadrants of the map!

Yondu, as expected, is a force of nature on the battlefield, and can change the course of the game on his own. He’s an expert ranged attacker, and he can even offer a bit of support via Perplex to the rest of his teammates. While his 100-point value takes up an entire third of your build total, he’s more than worth the investment to make your build truly scary in play.

That’s it for today, ‘Clix fans! Be sure to check back again as we look into more exciting previews from upcoming sets!

Greetings HeroClix Fans,

Welcome to another preview of the Marvel HeroClix: Guardians of the Galaxy v2 Movie Gravity Feed based off of the upcoming sure-to-be-a-smash-hit film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! Today, we’re taking a look at one of the most beloved curmudgeons in the galaxy, Rocket!

Also – be warned, when you’re looking at anything for a set from an upcoming film, understand there’s an implied gigantic, neon lights ablaze, air horn siren Spoiler Warning here. Turn back now if you want to be completely in the dark when it comes to those lovable miscreants protecting the galaxy!

Seriously, go.

Stop looking.

Still here? Excellent.

Rocket is the team’s resident tinkerer and ordinance expert – he cobbles together weapons and is the oft-times foul mouthed voice of reason for the Guardians. While he’s not exactly what you’d call a team player, Rocket has the ability to play on four different themed teams, Guardians of the Galaxy, Animal, Pilot, and Robot. He clocks in at a very affordable 65 points, which nets you five clicks of life and a range of six squares with two targets. Rocket is also naturally nimble, as shown by his Improved Movement – Ignores Hindering Terrain and Improved Movement – Ignores Characters.

Powers wise, Rocket has a measure of standard powers that fit his character perfectly – Running Shot for when he’s on the move and blasting baddies, Flurry for when he closes in and needs to finish off an opponent, Energy Explosion for those times when things need to get explosive, Super Senses to show those natural animal instincts, and Probability Control, which plays to his combat expertise and ability to predict and readjust to situational battle. Along with his standard powers, Rocket also sports a special defensive power called Stand Still Ya Vermin, which states that Rocket can use both Mastermind and Super Senses. As an added bonus, he can use Mastermind regardless of point value if the friendly character shares a keyword with Rocket.

That’s it for today, ‘Clix fans! Stay tuned as we continue to explore the far reaches of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with more exciting previews from the upcoming Marvel HeroClix – Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 set! Until then, I AM GROOT!

Greetings HeroClix Fans,

Welcome back to another preview from the upcoming Marvel HeroClix: Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 Movie Gravity Feed, releasing this week! Today, we’re taking a look at everyone’s favorite wooden hero, Groot!

It should be implied, but from this point forward, be warned – potential spoilers for the film Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 lie ahead!

If you’ve seen any of the trailers for Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2, you know that Groot has grown up a bit from where he was left at the end of the first film. No longer a potted plant, Groot is now a walking talking toddler, a tiny size force of justice for the universe! Of course, as the old saying goes, it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog – and this pint-sized three click 30-point guy packs a punch!

To start, Groot has Improved Movement – Ignores Hindering Terrain, allowing him to move freely amongst his plant brethren. He also has a trait called I am Groot!, which allows Groot to use Sidestep. Additionally, friendly characters within one square of Groot can use Improved Movement – Ignores Elevated Terrain. He also has a special power appearing on all three clicks of his damage called Heart of the Team, which allows Groot to use both Enhancement and Shape Change. Couple that with his natural powers of Stealth, Plasticity, Smoke Cloud, and Poison, and even though he’s just a little guy, he’s more than capable of holding his own and supporting the team!

Some strategies to consider with Groot – definitely take advantage of his tiny size, and make sure you’re carrying him with any ranged or stealth characters you may have on your force to take advantage of both his Enhancement, and once he’s able to take actions after being carried, his Smoke Cloud to place hindering terrain markers to either put them into stealth behind the smoke cloud, or drop your opponent’s attack by -1 by placing them in the smoke cloud. It’s also great to use him to give someone that Improved Movement – Ignores Elevated Terrain, have the person moving carry Groot to their destination, and have a different character use that same advantage from the trait by strategically placing Groot next to them. There’s a lot you can do with this little guy, and he makes your Guardians of the Galaxy or Cosmic themed teams that much more efficient and effective, at a relatively little point investment.

That’s all for today, ‘Clix fans! Be sure to join in next time as we continue to look at more exciting previews from the Marvel HeroClix Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 set! Don’t forget to visit your FLGS this week to pick up the new set. Until next time, don’t get hooked on a feeling – play more HeroClix!
